Iredell County 2030 Horizon Plan - Adopted by the Iredell County Board of Commissioners September 15
About the Plan
To complete this plan, the Board of Commissioners appointed 2 steering committees to work with the Department of Planning and Development and their consultants, Clarion Associates. Over an 18 month period the group worked to bridge the gap between the rural northern and the urban southern ends of the County. In the process the group made the local municipalities a part of the process and developed strategies to promote a formulated and realistic approach to growth. The plan was adopted in September of 2009 by the Board of Commissioners.

With the assistance of the Planning Board, the Planning and Development staff is currently drafting a new proposed Land Development Code (PDF) that will include the strategies of the 2030 Horizon Plan (PDF) and incorporate all of the county’s land development ordinances.

Award Winner
Iredell County is pleased to announce that the 2030 Horizon Plan (PDF) has been selected by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association (NCAPA) to receive the 2010 Marvin Collins Outstanding Planning Award for a Comprehensive Plan. This award is given annually by the NCAPA to projects that show innovation in planning theory and practice, and significant advances in the Planning Field. The award will be presented at the 2010 NCAPA annual conference in New Bern, NC.
