Asphalt Shingle Recycling

How It Works
Iredell County’s newest recycling initiative is an innovative program that partners the Solid waste Department with a local paving company, Maymead to reclaim old asphalt roofing shingles. These shingles contain high quality petroleum tars and aggregates that blend well into hot asphalt mixes.

Benefits

Recycling shingles benefits the county by saving landfill space. Maymead benefits from the addition of high quality raw materials to extend their hot asphalt mix. Homeowners and roofing contractors can benefit by reduced tipping fees charged for clean recyclable shingles.
