Jennings Park is 69 acres, located at 141 Deitz Rd in Statesville, NC.

Reservations

Reservation fees: $15/hour or $100/day per field (without lights). $35/hour or $150/day per field (with lights, where available). Fees need to be paid in advance and submitted with the reservation request. Reservations are REQUIRED for use of athletic fields by organized teams/associations.

Requests for reservations need to be submitted to the Recreation Office 2 weeks prior to the requested date(s), pending approval and availability.

Open to the public and available on a first-come, first-serve basis, as long as there is not a scheduled reservation and the field is not closed (weather, maintenance, etc).

Please do not go on fields if they are marked closed.

History

In 2015, the Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department accepted a land donation of 19.65 acres, from North Piedmont Babe Ruth League. The property, formerly known as Sertoma Park, was a baseball complex with 3 lighted baseball fields, 1 unlit field, a clubhouse, and a concessions stand with restroom facilities.  

The Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department, using funds from the sale of the originally designated North Iredell Park property located on Bussell Road in Olin, NC, purchased 49.45 additional acres, adjacent to the donated land.

The purchased property and the donated property were combined to serve as a new park totaling 69.1 acres, named Jennings Park. 

In May of 2016, the Parks and Recreation Department submitted a Parks and Recreation Trust Fund Grant for reimbursement funds to cover a portion of the acquisition.  In August of 2016, PARTF awarded $418,000 in grant funding for the project. 

Since the acquisition, Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department has invested approximately $40,000 in funds for immediate facility needs, to keep the baseball complex operational as a park, while the remainder of the park plan is determined and finalized.   

Following several public input meetings in 2016, a site specific Master Plan was unveiled in the fall of 2017. The Plan will be implemented in a series of phases, as funding is available or secured. Future amenities will include: an Outdoor Education Center & Ropes Challenge Course, multi-use athletic fields, concessions & restrooms, a turf platform, a redesigned & rebuilt baseball complex with 4 fields, concession stand, press box & restrooms, a playground, walking trails, picnic shelters, pickleball courts, field lighting, and more.

Iredell County Parks and Recreation selected Stewart, Inc. as the Construction Design and Administration Team in July 2021. Updated site plans have been made since the original master plan, while still including all planned park amenities in future phases.

As of March 2022, Phase 1 of the Jennings Park project includes infrastructure, parking, utilities, concessions/restrooms/picnic pavilion, four multi-purpose fields, and walking trails. Construction is expected to begin early 2023.

We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we transition as we prioritize facility improvements and upgrades. During this period, there may be temporary closures of existing amenities as we work to improve the overall project.
